Bloody Joker

To create this look I applied my daily makeup as normal, excluding the bronzer and highlighter. I then used a makeup sponge and black face paint to dab down my face to give the illusion that I had been crying.
To create texture on my mouth I used latex as a base for my split smile before layering fake blood over top. I used a fairly thick one for this so that it didn't drip too much.

I then used the same fake blood to draw lines from both my eyes in a typical joker style. I applied this quite roughly so that not to create perfect lines.
Lastly I added extra blood to the inside of my lips just to even the whole look out.

And there you have it, my quick and easy Bloody Joker Halloween makeup.

New benefit makeup review

My sister bought me some new benefit make up for my birthday and I've been using it for just under 3 weeks now. She got me a set which included the Hoola bronzer, gimme brow, they're real mascara and the high beam highlighter.

I've always wanted to try the Hoola bronzer as it is such a lovely colour which doesn't contain any shimmer so gives you a nice matte finish. It comes with a small brush which makes application so easy, especially for contouring as it is flat. I tend to use it under my cheek bones as well either side of my nose and across my forehead.

I use the gimme brow to set my eyebrows into place after filling them in with another product. This is probably my least favourite of the 4 as I can't use it by itself to fill them in as well.

Now onto the mascara.. I LOVE this product. It doesn't clump my eyelashes together like I find most mascaras do when you first use them. This mascara gives both length and volume with just one application. PERFECTION.

And finally the highlighter. At first I tried to apply this with a fanned brush but I found that it went on horribly. Eventually I worked out that if I put 3 dots on the top of my cheeks and blended it with my finger then it created a much nicer finish. It has a pink tone to it rather than gold which I have found many other highlighters to be. This gives a much more natural and gorgeous finish.

My bra fitting experience

So last weekend I went shopping in Milton Keynes for some late birthday presents from my boyfriend. After walking round for an hour or so I decided that I wanted some more underwear (a huge obsession of mine). So I start picking out some pretty bras in what I thought was my size. I stroll into the changing rooms with 8 different bras to try on, all in a 36D. I put the first one on which seemed fine to me, but to double check I asked the woman working to have a look. She took one look at me and said one word.. Nope. 10 seconds later she reappears with a bra the size of my face. I tried it on and she decided that this was 100% my size. Thinking that maybe she had gone a cup or 2 bigger size on me, I asked what size this was exactly. A 32FF.
After wandering round the store trying to find anything vaguely pretty in this new found size of mine, I ended up choosing a bra by Floozie in a 34E, which I'm so glad I did buy because once at home it fitted me perfectly.  So well in fact that I went into the Northampton store the next week and bought the same bra in a different colour. Once you take into account the change in cup size when you go up a back size, this was only 1 cup different to what she had suggested.

Moral of the story ladies.. Go for a bra fitting and definitely take into account the tips they give you but in the end wear what you feel most comfortable in. Every bra, that I've tried on anyway, seems to come up differently so definitely try before you buy. So my tips from this are simply make sure the wire isn't digging into the breast tissue and that the back strap is tight enough to provide support.

Fashion through time

Hi guys, so as a module for my course we have been looking at fashion between 1900 and 1999 and have been creating a visual timeline for each decade. It's been so interesting to see how fashion has changed in only one century. I've been basing my theme around Vogue covers from each era with actual Vogue titles to make them look a little more authentic. I've been using photoshop to create my mood boards with photographs that I've collected online of both fashion at the time and historical events.
I have also been designing an outfit for each decade to add into my work and make it a little more personal. So far the 1920's fashion has been my favourite to research but that may be somewhat due of the fact that I LOVE the Great Gatsby film and all of the outfits that they wear! Below are photos of my first 8 decades between the 1900s and 1970s.
Now I'll admit I'm not an expert fashion designer or drawer so I have been cheating with templates for all of my models figures but otherwise they'd look terrible so this was really my only option. I'll upload a photo of my final piece when it's finished!

National Wedding Show - Birmingham

For the last 4 days Nicola, Amy and I have been working backstage at the National Wedding Show in Birmingham as dressers. Although the days have been long and the work has been stressful, I've had an amazing few days getting first hand experience of what it is like behind the scenes at fashion shows.
We had around 20 seconds between each scene in which to get the models into their next outfit and make sure they had all of their accessories for each scene. This was sometimes tricky as buttons etc would be difficult to do up in the short amount of time that we had, so we all had to help each other out between scenes that we knew had difficult changes.
The dresses on the catwalk were all gorgeous and designers such as Aflred Angelo, Nieve, and Twinkles jewellery had their products displayed on the runway. I'd recommend anyone thinking of entering this industry to definitely do some work experience like this as it was definitely not as I expected it to be and I had a great time. The models were so much more friendly than I expected and the backstage environment is much busier than I thought it would be. Overall a great experience that I look forward to doing again in the future!
